it's not what she said/ but what she didn't say
that you should wary of
forget what you read on the internet
or read over his shoulder, or heard through the vine
when you had the time to talk to her
did you ask her what you really wanted to know?
probably not

did you ever get the chance to spend some time
with her?
alone? without the crowd?
did you really get to see her smile
her genuine smile
her heart shining through
then you've never met her

maybe you spoke to a friend of hers
they didn't know her either

it's what's between the lines
between the lies
between the sunny days
and the plastered smiles
it's what your missing
what you probably never saw

what you needed to know
that could have fixed that hole
eased your mind
allowed you to know
the truth

if you've never seen
the depth of her eyes
how they peer into yours
reading you
then you might have missed it

if you never met her
never saw her
never got real time
you never got her..

may never
get the chance
once the gate is closed
the wall is up and the lock is secured.
