ok.. you know you live in a small town when....
a tomato shortage is the top story of the day! ! ! WTF
my sister had to call me on that room.. She was like J.. Do you know the top story on the news today is the tomato shortage.. and why.. did i try to reason it? i was like it's been raining so much this year.. you'd think it'd be allright.. but the other thing is .. WHAT THE HELL!! ! are they doing with all the tomatoes.. see now im concerned.. lol.. and really are people REALLY eating that many tomatoes.. i haven't even had one Hanover Tomato Sandwich this year.. not ONE! so it's not me!
but on to other things..
LAST NIGHT! was the 2 year anniversay of the open mic spot my sister runs here in Richmond called Tuesday Verses.. A great time was had by all! ! :)
I finally got a chance to meet The Original Woman a poet out of DC, got to see Brother Earl from NY do his thing in the warmth of Tropical Soul, Got to hear AL B Back rip it again.. Got to FINALLY here Oktober World rip it! acoustic style.. who knew beat boxing and harmony could heal your soul!?!?!? and i do have to say.. Oumar.. is one fine talented brother ;) darn me and those baldheaded dark brown brothers lol..
And i.. blackedout on stage.. that is my new definition of if i've done well. When i get off and cant' remember what i did on stage... What i do remember is doing my "sweetest thing" poem.. and then going off and singing the sweetest thing and then going off and adlibbing and freestyle singing.. and it felt SO DAMN GOOD! i NEVER do that.. but it was a wonderful wonderful thing.. the band was on point.. and i couldn't stop.. oh my! i loved it! i gotta do that again.. and the response was beautiful so much love. BEAUTIFUL! now i know why people get on stage.. why they perform.. it's beautiful being where you are supposed to be doing what your supposed to be doing and being well received for it.. Gotta LOVE that..
so i guess the CD has to come soon! im hyped now.. :)
well people.. peace and blessings. back to work i go.. :) so i can pay for my cds'' and get off the plantation ! ;) see ya

wow. as a former richmond-ite, i definitely feel your pain. however, i must say that one thing the richmond area gets right that nobody else has yet is ukrop's. ukrop's is the only chain grocery store (or grocery store, period, for the matter) that i actually don't mind going to. oh, how i miss their broccoli and cheese casserole.
at any rate, congrats on your wonderful set! :)

maryann.. i do have to say.. I have seen NOTHING like Ukrop's anywhere! I studied their business structure for my Orginizational Business class @ VCU .. and I do have to say that Ukrops is a cult.. seriously.. there are so many things you have to do to conform. it's crazy!
But nothing beats their mashed potatoes.. and where else can you get soup, banana pudding, sushi and eat in the store ??? restaurant style? in a grocery store? this place was an enigma to me when i first moved here.. People are eating AT the grocery.. don't you take your food home.. But i find myself there everyday almost at lunch time.. im sucked in too...SAVE ME ! ;)
I bet they have tomatoes.. Hey they have fresh cut watermelon all year round.. SWEET fresh watermelon.. now tell me how that works???
